However, thanks to chemical maturation, it is immediately ready for use, as the oxidation process of hematoxylin occurs during its preparation.

Primarily used in regressive staining methods, but it can also be applied progressively in cytology and as a contrast stain in histology.

Acidified with acetic acid to enhance nuclear staining.
